Our privacy commitment
Tracking a child is a position of trust. Here is exactly what SafeSteps does with your family's information.
What we collect
For each paired child device we store location fixes (latitude, longitude, accuracy), battery level, and the time each fix was recorded. For parents we store your email, name and subscription status.
Who can see it
Only members of your family account. Every table is protected by row-level security, so one family can never read another family's data.
How long we keep it
Location history is kept for 30 days and then removed. Alerts are kept for 90 days. Deleting a child removes their devices, history and alerts immediately.
Children stay in control of the phone
A child device only reports while the SafeSteps page is open and sharing is switched on. Turning sharing off notifies the parent instead of hiding it silently.
Location provider
Maps and address lookups are provided by Google Maps Platform. Coordinates are sent to Google only to draw maps and to convert coordinates into readable addresses.
Your requests
You can export or delete your family's data at any time from Settings, or by emailing support.
